Approaching three decades now, I have been documenting through my photographs agrarian landscapes throughout Europe, in all their variety and fleeting wonder. Of particular interest to me were patches of land worked by people who are simply growing food for their own sustenance. Such places often embody a particular character and spirit of ancient times that very much speaks to me. Like Candide, I feel that we, as human beings, can do nothing better for this world than cultivate our own garden.
