Along the Ohio

These photographs are from my book Along the Ohio, which was published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2000. I made the photographs in the 1980s and 90s in the Ohio River Valley, a region that was central to the United States’ development as an industrial power. I tried to describe the efforts people make to achieve some semblance of the American Dream under less than ideal circumstances.
