Girls ‘n’ Boys

“The photographs Girls ‘n’ Boys were made between 1999 and 2001 in Meyrin, the first satellite city of Switzerland built in the 70′ according to Le Corbusier’s ideas. For this free assignment initiated by Meyrin Cultural Fund, I decided to photograph teenagers in public spaces. I was especially interested in the existential and transitory aspect of adolescence which for me matched so well the in-between quality of this environment. Teenagers also appeared to me as being the only people to make the place theirs, occupying this territory, making it exist differently.”
