Suspended Loads

I started to look inside the factories at the beginning of the Eighties. I was searching for possible ways of creating landscapes that could tell about places that are difficult, complex, and full of toil. Places where the hard work was expressed by the marks on the machine tools, on the walls, with colours capable of visualizing the sound and the smells. I passed through dozens and dozens of plants, everywhere. Every time I found something that made them unique. The Factory has been often a metaphor for stories also far from those about work, but through Photography it was possible – this is what I was trying to do – to look for something more. It was a way to tell about the Twentieth Century, to mix the languages, a hybrid form to rethink about what had been and about which was our own way of living the contemporaneity.
