Matrimania is about the lovable ridiculousness of Indian society viewed through the prism of India’s wedding culture. This is my world. I have been documenting wedding sets and little associated details at Indian weddings because I find them to be fascinating metaphors of my country’s penchant for order and chaos; colour and noise; and its peculiar sense of taste and design. We in India take our weddings very seriously. All of us get invited to–and gladly attend–weddings of people we barely know. Matrimania takes the viewer through one long, fictitious wedding that never seems to come to an end. Somehow, you never get to meet the bride or the groom, even if their presence is felt.
