Nancy Baron

Palm Springs > The Good Life Goes On

Palm Springs > The Good Life Goes On features Nancy Baron’s spare, jewel-toned impressions of Palm Springs, California, the storied resort town rising from the sands of the American desert. Baron documents, with a positive bias, her ongoing and endless discoveries of her second home and its community of midcentury modern enthusiasts. This large and tight-knit group of self-proclaimed modernists are committed to the midcentury modern life style and the preservation of its architecture. Their homes, cars, and clothes pay homage to the carefree, post-World War II time in U.S. history that glows warmly in their vintage rear view mirrors.

Baron’s background in documentary filmmaking has led to her current dedication to fine art documentary photography. She documents the world nearby, mostly in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, where she lives. Nancy’s work is held in private and public collections and has been exhibited in galleries across the United States, including three solo exhibits in Los Angeles and two in Palm Springs.

Her photography has been published in many notable magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times, American Photo, Architectural Digest, Italy, BBC World.com, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Neue Zurcher Zeitung, Madame Figaro, Fast Company, Conde Nast Traveler, CNN.com, etc.

Her first monograph, The Good Life > Palm Springs, published by Kehrer Verlag, was released in 2014. Her second monograph with Kehrer, Palm Springs > The Good Life Goes On, was released in October, 2016. Her self-published monograph, Beautiful Trailertown was released in March, 2017.
