This series, photographed between 2008-2012, explores the relationship between humans and bodies of water. Set among the unpredictable waves of the Atlantic Ocean or the glass-like stillness of a lake in upstate New York, the photographs invite the viewer to immerse his or herself in the pure joy of swimming. These photographs were made while I lived in New York, and my trips to the water were a respite from the harsh realities of life as a creative in the city. The act of swimming brings us back to our purest self, as free and full of joy as when we were children.
