Zell am See, a rural town in the countryside of Salzburg in Austria, has recently
become a favorite holiday destination for people from the Middle East.
While most tourists and locals dislike the unstable weather in the alpine summertime,
young successful men, couples and large families from the Arab countries
relish the cool and rainy weather.
They most enjoy walking along the lakeside or boating on lake Zell and they are
hugely excited to see snow for the first time in their lives on the Kitzsteinhorn
glacier.
Each year 72,000 guests from the Middle East stay in the Zell-Kaprun region
of approximately 12,000 inhabitants and save the critical summer season. The
appearance of a very different culture marks the townscape of the rural alpine
village and the main tourist attractions.
