Dance!

Let's dance! Pogo, Lipsi or Twist? Harald Hauswald was always in the middle. The series was photographed between 1980 and 1989 and tells of nights of dancing in East Berlin´s legendary nightclubs such as the Prater or the Frannz Klub, of annual festivals on the Baltic Sea, carnival in Großhennersdorf, punk concerts in Karl-Marx-Stadt, jazz festivals in Woltersdorf and exhibition openings in Prenzlauer Berg. It also tells of the photographer's and his protagonists' joie de vivre, which existed - and absolutely had to exist - despite the constant restrictions and surveillance that the GDR system imposed on Hauswald's life in particular.
