I’m interested in exploring the inner-workings of community and ‘ways of being’ through photographic forms and concepts. The photographs in the series Celestial Body Model involves lengthy photographic processes to convey the sensory modes of understanding found within the deep ecology workshop ‘Earth as a peppercorn’. Workshop participants walk a scale-model of the solar system to experience its vastness, where planet proportions are conveyed with simple objects. The images in Celestial body model convey the sun and planets, with each original representing object being abstracted with multiple exposures and toning. The photographic process determines what becomes visible in the image with each layer of exposure. The photographic process becomes a metamorphic action between the original and final image. It transforms and re-presents the lived experience of the workshop.
