After the flood

In December 2010 and January 2011 the Australian states of Victoria and Queensland experienced widespread flooding due to extreme weather. This series of photos document the effects on my aunt’s farm in southern Queensland, a major food distribution centre in Brisbane, and residential streets of Mildura in rural Victoria. The photographs examine everyday, seemingly permanent landscapes made unfamiliar and separate. The altered landscapes show the vulnerability of perceived order in the developed world, a fragility that will be exposed more frequently due to extreme weather increasing with climate change.
