Technological civilization suppresses, destroys what exists, to constantly replace it with something else. The ever-new products of human invention (cities, factories, cars, freeways, refrigerators, electronic gadgets - what we call the techno), have systematically replaced the living world: the stability of the biosphere, the world that has spent three billion years to grow.
