Suspending Belief

These still life photographs are simple arrangements of fruits and vegetables. Despite their simple arrangements they are complex in their execution, as they confront the viewer with the impossible. These images deal with naivety, in that there is an innocence in us that wants to believe in something contrary to what our minds deem plausible. I am interested in questioning the intersection between naivety and optimism as well as skepticism and pessimism. These images challenge the viewer to allow contradictory ideas to co-exist within their minds by questioning their own relationship to skepticism and naivety.
